伴随着当前中国当代艺术的商业化进程，艺术品逐渐成为富豪阶层的奢侈品，收藏群体局限于富有阶层及海外人士；相比油画等主流媒介，版画的认知度低，版画艺术家群体面临市场的冷落，逐渐表现出抛弃版画而从事其他媒介的倾向。
[藏娇]2008新春版画艺术节旨在推进版画的普及和发展，培养更多的本土收藏家和艺术爱好者从版画开始艺术收藏之旅，使中国艺术市场可持续发展。正如抗战时期的木刻扛起了抗日宣传的大旗，中国当代版画应该面向广阔的大众，提升国民审美素质，促进艺术创作和市场的繁荣。

Over commercialization of Chinese art creates thrilling auction records and contemporary art has been trapped in a small, privileged circle for the rich, manipulated by art investors and opportunists. And printmaking, (as a medium which is very popular in the west), has been neglected by the market and collectors. By printmaking festival, we hope to engage more people socially and aesthetically, creating a sustainable print art market, which will benefits the printmaking artists, collectors and art dealers in the long term.

The festival consists of exhibitions, public Activities & forum.
Exhibitions in various locations spontaneously will showcase diverse prints including:
1. Traditional folklore woodcuts, ancient Buddhist documentation, old illustration books in Chinese history;
2. 1950s-1990s communist printmaking masters;
3. Leading contemporary printmaking artists;
4. Emerging young printmakers and innovation of printmaking.
