Liao ShiouPing(1936~) is world renowned artist from Taiwan, whose unique symbolist cultural system derives from inscriptions on ancient bronze, drawings of antique ceramics, and Chinese religious, folklore art, he modernized these visual heritage, creating a syncretic language of western concept and oriental sensibility. His works are collected by the British Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, US. Liao ShiouPing is also a driving force in Taiwan's modernism print movement. Under his influence, printmakers groups such as ShiQing (a group of 10 printmakers including artists Zhong YouHui and Lin YuQing etc.) have been actively engaged in promoting printmaking in the past 30 years, making Taiwan a world leader in printmaking innovation. In the 1990s, Liao ShiouPing was active in mainland China, educating the Chinese artists with his modernist vision, spreading advanced techniques on etching, lithography and silkscreen in his workshops, which attracted the faculty members of major Chinese fine art academies (such as prominent artists Su Xinping, now head of Printmaking Dept. in Central Academy). Liao's contribution help nourish the maturation of China's print art.

Grace of Printmaking exhibition represents the splendid achievements of print art in the mainland and Taiwan, reflecting diverse social landscapes: Taiwan artists exhibit stunning freshness in their innovative works, while mainland printmakers depict deep observation on the contemporary spirit. Participating artists are from the print research institutes of NTUA led by Liao ShiouPing,Zhong YouHui and printmaking faculty from CAFA including Tan Ping, Su XinPing etc. Sponsored by China Print Art Online, this exhibition will benefit the education and cultural exchange for the two academies, demonstrating artists' confidence and unity bringing the prosperity of Chinese print art.
