Affordable Art Beijing 2008(AAB 2008) will see 500-600 pieces of art sold for under 10,000 yuan each at the 798 Art District from April 25 to 27. It's a good opportunity for the art consumers on a limited budget in the city who have interests in original pieces. The coming event will present not only paintings, but also photography, designs and sculptures.

Two previous affordable art events in 2006 and 2007 have brought the concept a good reputation. The artist Chen Qiuchi's artworks were exhibited at 2006's AAF and now are reported to have sold for above 100,000 yuan now.

Many well-known artists show their supports to the event by pricing their artworks less than 10,000 yuan, among which including artist Sheng Qi's Most Wanted, who has joined the AAF for the third year.

The contemporary Chinese printmaking art is a form of art that, from its inception, fully synthesized the cosmopolitan aspirations of its practitioners with the particularities of their Chinese situation.

Cooperating with AAF for three years, China Print Art Online will present the hutong series by artist Huang Kai with a limitation of eight editions for sale in this year's AAB. Huang Kai is famous for his distinctive style of portraying the hutongs of Xi'an, which won attentions in the art circle.

*Chinese woodcut: The birth of the new Chinese woodcut movement is usually dated to 1931, started by Lu Xun. With Lu Xun's encouragement, the art of woodblock printing spread quickly among China's artists and the art form became very popular through generations due to its time spirits and affordable prices.

Artist Huang Kai-
Sentimental Childhood of 1980s.

Without pretty toys, no piano classes, childhood of 1980s was uncared-for but boring, exiled on dirty HuTong (alleyways). Eventually the childhood memory is demolished with the fast-paced urban development.
