在国际艺术创造潮流中，版画始终独领风骚。北美洲的山川湖泊在美国艺术家戈登·莫特森的作品里洋溢着诗情；他的作品多达六十四种颜色，创作历时三个月；画面丰富细腻，有着水彩画般的绚丽清新；旅居泰国的英国艺术家拉尔夫层层叠叠的绿色植被在雨季里茂盛，浓得化不开的是古老佛国的禅意…

Amelie
Gallery brings you a New Year's treat in the form of beautiful,
romantic landscape prints. From China's early modern print masters
to the international contemporary academics, through Southeast
Asia and North America, this is a journey through the mental
landscape that transcends time and space. The enchanting landscapes,
lush scenery and acute perceptions of the artists come together
here in the art of print.
This
exhibition emphasizes the important schools and artists in China's
unique path of innovation and change in print art. Chinese
water block woodcuts have garnered acclaim throughout the
world of print art, and one the most representative artists
is Chen Qi. Hailing from the China Central Academy of
Fine Art, he lingers in the sweet cultural imagery of Chinese
classical tomes and painted fans. A hand forms a mudra, a dreamlike
butterfly alights, lotus petals gather the dew. The inks contain
water smears, like tiny ripples undulating through the soul.
Modern print master Song
Yuanwen's black and white woodcuts have smooth and meticulous
cuts;
a goose soars over the monotone northern landscape, which has
been subtly crafted by the artist into a pure aesthetic feel.
Wang
Qi and Li Qun, artists from an older generation,
skillfully captured social history in a new approach to Chinese
landscapes. He Kun, a leader in Reduction Woodcut,
uses lithe yet crude lines to capture the tranquil movements
of the Yunnan sun over ancient towns.
In international
creative trends, printmaking has attained a unique level of
eloquence. In the works of Gordon Mortensen, the mountains
and rivers of North America flow with poeticism. Some of his
works have as many as 64 colors and take three months to complete.
His images are rich and detailed, with the lovely freshness
of watercolor paintings. Ralph Kiggell, a British artist
currently residing in Thailand, creates endless stacks of green
flora thriving in the monsoon rains. This impenetrable richness
is the essence of this ancient land of the Buddha...
